What I've learned about transformation design thus far #7
Transformation is often imagined as dramatic: the sudden insight, the peak experience, the breakthrough moment. And these do occur. But most transformation happens quietly, incrementally, through the accumulation of small practices repeated over time.
The person who meditates for ten minutes each morning may not notice change from day to day. But over months and years, something shifts. Reactivity softens. Attention stabilizes. The relationship to thought changes. No single sitting produced this; the practice did.
This is why the great wisdom traditions emphasize daily practice over peak experience. The peak fades; the practice remains. The peak can even become an obstacle. An experience to be recaptured, a standard against which ordinary life seems lacking. But practice makes no such promises. It simply asks you to show up, again and again, and trusts that showing up is enough.
