What I've learned about transformation design thus far #48

For a moment to function as a threshold, it must be recognised.

Recognition does not always happen in the moment itself. Sometimes the significance emerges later, in retrospect. The conversation that seemed ordinary at the time is recognised, months later, as the turning point. The experience whose importance was unclear becomes, with distance, the moment everything changed.

But recognition in the moment has particular power. When we know, as something is happening, that it is significant, when we feel the threshold quality as we cross it, the experience imprints more deeply. Attention sharpens. The brain encodes more carefully. The meaning is not assigned afterwards but felt directly.

Crystallisation is the moment when meaning solidifies. The experience that was fluid, open to interpretation, and ambiguous in significance suddenly becomes clear. The pattern resolves. The understanding lands. Something clicks into place.
