What I've learned about transformation design thus far #42

The greatest challenge with transcendent experience is integration. The peak opens something; integration keeps it open.

Without integration, even the most profound experience fades. Neurological research explains why: the brain is efficient, preferring established pathways over new ones. A single experience, however intense, creates only a faint new trace. Unless reinforced, that trace is overwritten by the much stronger patterns of ordinary consciousness.

This is why people report frustration after a retreat, a ceremony, or a peak experience. For a moment, they touched something real. Then ordinary life rushed back, and what seemed so clear became cloudy. The insight that felt unshakeable began to shake. The opening closed.
