What I've learned about transformation design thus far #29

Travel carries initiatory potential. To leave home is to separate from the ordinary. To journey is to enter liminal space. To return is to complete the classic three-phase structure.

But modern travel often squanders this potential. The package tour that insulates travellers from any real encounter with otherness. The resort that recreates ‘home’ in a different location. The business trip that moves the body while the mind remains in the office. These are travel without transformation, displacement without initiation.
