What I've learned about transformation design thus far #36
Maslow spent years studying what he called “peak experiences”, moments of heightened experience that transcend ordinary consciousness. He found them to be more common than supposed, occurring not just to mystics and saints but to ordinary people in ordinary circumstances: listening to music, dancing, making love, encountering nature, reaching the summit of physical or intellectual effort.
The characteristics he identified overlap significantly with those later called transcendent or mystical experiences. Disorientation of time and space. Loss of fear and anxiety. Perception of the world as good, beautiful, desirable. Feelings of gratitude and awe. A sense of being simultaneously more oneself and less separated from the world.
